My Boston Terrier was 9 years old and one of my family members left him outside for the night. My family member let him out at around 12 and fell asleep. Then he woke up at 3am. He went outside and yelled his names multiple times and usually my dog always runs to the door. Well this time he didn't. My family member went outside an hour later to look for my dog and found that he was dead. It's the summer but the temperature was in the 70 range the other night. My dog is an inside dog and isn't really use to being outside for long periods of time unless someone else is out there with him. Can someone please give me your thoughts on how you might think he died?

Short-nosed dogs cannot stand the heat, so it is possible that was it. Also on the list would be heart disease. That can cause sudden death. If you have a good vet, and if your dog had been seeing the vet on a regular basis, then he or she may have some idea as to what happened. If your dog had no obvious injuries, I just keep thinking heart was the issue. You may never know. I hope you won't blame yourself nor your family member. It was a terrible thing. Your Boston had 9 great years, and that's a long life for a dog. I am very sorry.
I'm so sorry for your loss. I know that Bostons are prone to a lot of different maladies. They are delicate dogs. They should be kept in the house if you aren't with them. God only knows what happened. A necropsy would give you a definitive answer. For your peace of mind, it would seem worth it. I would do it.
Get a necropsy done.
