Weezer
My story is I heard Beverly Hills, and I thought it was all right, but I didn't pay much attention to it. A couple of years later, I played Guitar Hero III and I heard My Name is Jonas and I thought it sounded awesome. So I downloaded it. A couple of months later, I heard Say it Ain't So on Rock Band. I thought that sounded REALLY good so I downloaded it. Around May this year, I heard Pork 'N Beans and that was it for me. I started buying EVERYTHING by them and now, they are my favorite band.
How about you?

My uncle took me to a Beatles Tribute band Concert 8 years ago. I've loved them ever since.
I have a lot of favorite bands, and I discovered all of them differently. My first three favorite bands, that I ever listened to, I got from my dad. Since I was born, my dad was always playing Metallica, Rob Zombie/White Zombie, and Green Day all the time. From the age of five, I was always able to sing every word to all the songs(which is not good, considering the lyrical content of said bands songs). All my other favorite bands I've mostly uncovered on the internet, just by searching around and listening to obscure, unsigned bands. Which most of the time end up becoming popular later.
Oh god, I love this question.
The Used
Okay, so I was watching Fuse, it was a long time ago. When Fuse was good. But anyway, I was watching it, and I Caught Fire came on. And I loved the song so much. It was all I listened to. Then I finally went out and bought the CD In Love and Death, which is their second album. I was going over to my friends house that night so I brought it with me and we listened to the whole thing over and over again. My favorite songs on the CD were Take it Away, I Caught Fire, Let It Bleed, All That I've Got, Listening, Sound Effects and Overdramatics and I'm A Fake. Then it was christmas time and I got their self titled debut album. I listened to both of those CD's nonstop after that. I went through a retarded stage and didn't like them really for about a month. Then I saw the Buried Myself Alive video and I was amazed again. So I started to listen to them constantly again. They were my favorite ever since then. It's been about 5 or 6 years since they were my favorite. I think its gonna stay that way. Since I'm talking about them, they've also got their 4th album coming out soon, well not soon, but it's soon enough. And i'm pretty sure a CD/DVD. Yay.
When I was in my rap music phase, my friend (and now bandmate) started playing guitar and found led zeppelin since jimmy is a guitar god. Then he started asking me if i know them or like them. Then i got led zeppelin II and i've been a changed man ever since.
Then for the beatles, how can you not hear of them since they are so popular ,but i think my dad was always singing twist and shout and then i bought please please me, and since then i've been a beatlemaniac.
then for all the other bands it's from guitar hero, rock band, or the itunes essential things for classic rock.
I heard a few of the most popular Coldplay songs at the time (like "Clocks," "In My Place," "Trouble," and "Yellow") on the radio. So I decided to buy one of their CDs. Now, I've got all of their full length albums and am in the process of collecting all of their singles. I love their work! There is no Coldplay song I don't like, and I love most of them.
Bad Religion - On the video game Crazy Taxi
well, a couple of years ago, my mom bought the Beatle's Love cd. i was interested in it, so i asked for Beatle's cd's for christmas. i got five, and then i went out and bought a ton more myself. the Beatles were my favorite band for a long time. then i started looking up other '60's artists and found a lot of good ones. Beatles were still my favorite.
i bought "She's A Rainbow" by the Rolling Stones on itunes. it was a good song. i wasn't that interested in any of their other stuff. i hadn't heard them in a very long time. then, one day, i looked 'em up on itunes. they were awesome! something in their music just grabbed me. you know? it had something in it that you just can't put your finger on, but you know it's there. i got into more of their stuff, and now their my favorite band.

I was just looking around VampireFreaks for music lol, Emilie Autumn was like on the first page, and I thought she was awesome. But she didn't become my favourite until quite recently. I guess I just started listening to her more. :D
