We talk a LOT about bringing democracy to that part of the world. The problem is that free elections in that area could lead to more and more anti-American leaders... btw, Pakistan and Iran is more democratic than we like to admit. There is still problems with allowing some candidates on the ballots in places like that... and there is some strong arming; but not as much as we think. And our own election process is not perfect either, we have had to use the Supreme Court to determine the highest office in recent history.
But no, we would be devestated if Musharef lost an election.
Look at Palestine recently... they had fair elections and voted in Hammas and America and Israel cried foul just because they were not the ones that they wanted in power... we wanted the Palestinians to fairly elect someone we liked NOT fairly elect a perceived enemy.
I'm not entirely sure what you mean by that. Who's we?
Ok, I'm an Australian, which to the rest of the world pretty much means I am an American too, courtesy of a butt kissing prime minister, but I don't think that it is 'we' who have to handle democracy in Pakistan...
