For puppies it is on and off all day long. If they aren't sleeping or chewing on a bone, they will be trying to play. My aussie would start to slow down after about 5-10 minutes of awesome play, then want to play again in 20-30 minutes when she was a puppy, haha. Now she is about a year and a half old. Her play sessions now are quite a bit longer. I usually give her a short play in the morning or we go on a walk. For the remainder of the day she just hangs out. This is due to our work schedule. At about 3 or 4 in the evening, she starts to perk up. From here on out, we do trick training, obedience training, frisbee training, and just good old fashion playtime. This usually lasts about an hour or so. Remember that they not only need physical stimulation, but mental as well. They are little brainiacs. They are truly a joy to have around. As long as you give them what they need exercise wise, they are for sure one of the best dogs to own. Once a routine is established, they wil know when playtime or training time is and will usually just chill out until that time comes. They also want to be with you 24/7. Velcro dogs they are. If you leave the room, they follow. I hope this helps!! :-)

Expect 3-4 hours of attention and exercise a day (not just walks) and be happy if it's less.
You exercise puppies in shorter spurts more times a day.
