I hate impromptu speeches, they are the worst!!! I always try to speak slowly, it gives the impression that your completely under control and not nervous, i also try to stretch out my introduction so that i use more time - eg. "Hello my name is ... and today i will be talking about...... " You could also run through what you are going to talk about, like what points your going to make about the topic. To end the speech you could briefly sum up what you have spoken about and then just say thank you for listening. Don't worry if you can't think of much to say, usually impromptu topics aren't really difficult, hopefully it will be fairly basic. Think up some main points for the topic and discuss them, when you have nothing left to say just end your speech, it will look better if its a short speech but you talk consistently, if you look unsure of yourself or stop between points to think of what to say it won't look good.
Even if your speech material isn't the best, try to make your presentation good - so speak loudly and clearly and try to look confident.
Don't worry about it too much, just relax and im sure you'll be fine. Good luck xx
