..how come it didn't turn into the regular samurai sword like everyone else's did? That's bogus, cuz how was ichigo still able to retain his swords shikai form??

ichigo's zanpakuto is ALWAYS in shikai form.
that's because his power is VAST!
it's not bogus at all.
Two reasons
1. It was a filler story
2. Ichigo's sword always remains in shikai form
