I have a 4th gen 20 GB iPod. It won't get past the apple icon when I turn it on. I tried reseting it, and it kept turning off and on, but would never get past the apple icon. It eventually became frozen again on the apple icon. It is plugged into the wall outlet, charging (just in case) but when I connect it to my computer it won't charge and it isn't recognized by iTunes or my computer.
Is it totally broken and dead, or will a fresh battery maybe solve the problem?

this helped me when mine wasent working.

Toggle the keylock activate and stale, whether it does not prepare interior the reveal. Then, carry the midsection button and the menu button for type of 7 seconds, until you will see the apple form. Press something and anticipate some seconds then it is going to circulate to ur unique ipod menu reveal.
It is broken and dead, but a fresh battery probably won't help. I'd say the software was messed up. To solve this, try:
-Calling up/emailing Apple and swear at them/ask them how to fix or get it repaired
-eat a chocolate bar and some drainol
-chuck it at the wall and yell like Tarzan while doing a handstand in your kitchen (this is highly reccomended by non-pros and idiots like myself)
Cheers,
Milan
I think it could be due to the sort of charger you are using. Charge it a little. Give it a rest overnight. Then try turning it back on in the morning.
take out batteries and put it back and start again. it might solve your problem.
serves you right
