As compared to these popular positions:
Busboy
Cashier
Stockboy
Lifeguard
Sales Associate (direct customers to a specific product)
And what is the usual routine for a waiter?
Is it just hand out menus, ask what drinks they want, what food, refill, check on them, and give them the check?
I am only paranoid about it and want to be prepared in the future.

It's not hard to be a waiter, you just need to be prepared for complaining customers and spills. My mom has been a waitress for 13 years, and she loves it. You have to be really friendly with customers, even the difficult ones, and keep your head up. Hope this helps :)
Its pretty straight forward. You have to like to work with people because some of them are really mean. The best thing is if someone pisses you off you can always go to websites like restaurantsfightback.com and complain about the customer. Pretty genial I know. I wish you all the best
the hardest part is that people are really mean to you all day and you have to be nice back
