My partner has been charged wif assault me and he is out on bail can I get the bail changed as we want to work it out he has a drink problem and hes going to stop drinking will this help him ?
No, its not up to you to ask to change bail, change it to what anyway? Clearly its not his first time, so if he cant control his temper and has a drink problem its up to him to get the help to stop. Anyone can say they are going to AA to help fool the judge or police, they've seen it a million times before. Actions speak louder than words. He is bailed to return I take it, with conditions? BTW, remember if he breaks his bail conditions he gets kept in until the next court date, and wont be given bail again.
Well, if you want to.....help him...get him into 'rehab' or a abuse 'counselor'. I don't mean a lockdown thing or anything like that. He'll have to be willing to go and over time stop drinking with their help/ counseling.
As to lowering bail if he's already been bailed out has it not been paid already?
If you want to lower it, either of you petition the court to do so and coordinate with his attorney and the prosecutor. If you don't him found.... guilty....and the prosecutor continues the case anyway.....when you 'testify' in court....say....'you don't remember what happened'.....and there goes the prosecutors case.
Give him the elbow, you'll be doing him and yourself a very big favour, once you accept that sort of behavior he will do it again.....and again and every time he will promise it won't happen again.......until it does, he needs to learn right now that no woman will put up with it and then maybe he will stop!
Ditch him. He is a loser and if he has hit you once he will hit you again. A leopard never changes his spots and all the promises that he will change and never hit you again are pie in the sky.
He might stop his drink problem but will it change his temper or is that his excuse for when he is drunk.

he is not going to stop drinking and he will hit you again
pick up what is left of your self respect and dignity and walk away
I am being cruel to be kind , either dump him now or in a few years when he has worn you out
Work it out AFTER he stops drinking.
