i just hooked my subs up to my friends alpine 1000 watt amp (my subs are kicker comps). there brand new. and thet dont go deep. its not deep at all. any help?
Subs don't generally do well without being in some sort of box. They do best in a well designed box specific to the subs.
Also, was the gain on the amp set right?
The purpose of the gain is to match the signal volts RMS coming from the source (CD player, etc.) to the input of the amp to prevent clipping (damage by over powering).
I dont prefer a video to appreciate what kicker comp R yet whilst its makeing weird and wonderful sound then that recommend the coil burnd out I recommend U get new subs or its gonna cut back to rubble your amp. purchase the way your amp is vulnerable I recommend U get a greater suited sort.
make sure that both of the subs are connected the same wayin to the amp output channels..for example if the positive output from amp is connected to the positive connector of the sub and the other sub is connected positive output to negative connector then the subs are working against each other. . check the source it has pictures to better understand

Here is a guide that will help you set the gain correctly http://www.datafilehost.com/download.php?file=6d26...
You'll need a multi-meter (AC voltmeter), Microsoft Excel and a way to burn an audio CD from an MP3.
If you don't have Excel, use this link http://www.box.net/shared/nkkw1dhk4g
