So I usually leave my charger in my laptop for a while so when I go out, its already charged but lately when I take out the charger it will say 100% and then die after a couple minutes...how do I fix this?

One major issue with laptops is most batteries don't last that long and some Toshiba Satelite models etc especially are known for batteries not to last.If the laptop indicates with it's LED charging light indicator that the charger is working when it's plugged in then more then likely it's time for a new battery.
Hope that helps and best of luck.Merry Xmas and Happy New year to all. By the way. In most cases the more cells the replacement battery has and higher Mah rating it has , the better will work longer per charge and the longer the battery should last.Note that every new battery has a learning cycle meaning the first charge may not take long and the battery might not work that long. Also you will notice that it will start taking longer to charge but it also will hold it's charge longer.
If your laptop is several years old and the battery is the original one, then your battery likely needs to be replaced. Two to three years is about the normal lifetime of a battery. You may want to also have the battery charger checked out to see if it is actually charging the battery correctly. It could be the bad part of the charging process, but unless it's been dropped or misused, I'd think the battery is the problem. You could contact a local computer repair shop to have them check the battery, the charger and the computer charging port to see what the weak link may be. They'll likely charge a small fee unless you buy any needed parts from them.
It sure sounds like the battery cannot hold a charge. 100% charge does not imply that the Amp-Hour rating is per new battery specs. after charging. Shorted cells within the battery could be the cause. Lithium batteries are never designed to be flattened (fully discharged), and permanent damage could result if flattened.
Since the battery does seem to achieve 100% charge after discharging, the charging circuit is fine. It's the battery that is not up to par. Try a new battery.
