if you watched the cartoon series then you would be disappointed. i know i was :(
but the effects were great. i just found few of the scenes boring. but i would recommend it only because they stuck with the original story. they skipped all the fillers and captured the main parts.
Yes, it was absolutely horrible. It was the first movie that I intentionally tried to miss large chunks of by heading into the kitchen to make food, refill drinks and such. The acting was cheesey, the special effects were either over-kill or under-developed, and the story was way inaccurate and rushed. But you also have to remember that they didn't get permission from the creators of Avatar: The Last Airbender to create the movie, which is why they changed so much of it, including the title. It also explains why they annoyingly messed up the pronunciation of Aang's name.
I saw it an no I would not recommend it. I was always a huge fan of the show but the movie was garbage. They didn't even get the names right, they were calling him "Ong" haha and all of the characters were mexican or something.
But what else besides from crap would you expect from M Night Shyamalan?
