lied being deaf and no speach.?
Ok my friend and I talk alot. Last winter she told me that she was never going to talk again...AND SHE DIDN'T. she only talked to me. she went to the doctors and they said nothing is wrong but I have no idea why she can't talk???
she NEVER ever spoken only listened to people..
till this day she still doesn't talk but to me. She has problems at home so This is the main reason why. she also doesn't talk in school or anything.
Now my question...since she played like she couldn't talk .could the doctor really tell?
If she goes do more test can they tell if she can't really talk or if she is really deaf???

There is a movie like this. Something with two girls have to grow up together because one of the girls parents died. The girl whose parents died doesnt talk to anyone so everyone assumes she cant hear. She plays it up a little but in the end it turns out badly for everyone. Someone is going to confess private stuff to her just because she cant hear and they want to get it off their chest. LOL Find the movie its pretty good.
It sounds like she has what is called selective or elective muteism. This is not related to being deaf this is only talking to a select group of people and in some cases select environments.
She won't talk that doesn't mean she won't do what she is told. Tests around deafness usually require you to do something when you hear a particular sound.
The school should be able to tell if she has any hearing problems if she doesn't seem to understand the work given to her after instructions have been given or does not do what has been instructed.
what you are describing is a mental illness, not a physical one.
If she did speak at one time and the dr couldn't find any physical problem, it is likely that the dr would recommend a psychiatrist.
There are tests that could determine if she can speak and hear but it would depend on how far her Dr and parents were willing to go. Depends on the extent of treatment and Testing is expensive.
This sounds really wierd. You would think that she would want to speak. I would think that she would probably have some psychological problem, and she is afraid that if she talked she may say something that she doesn't want people to know about.
