I'm over weight and I am determined to lose about 15 to 20 pounds, regardless of what it takes. Now, I've started eating very healthily and I'm eating small things regularly to boost my metabolism. All of that is fine and I don't really need advice on an eating plan. I also work out every morning for about 30 mins before work, mostly cardio but I do some weights a few days a week.
My question is regarding protein shakes. Is it wise to take these at all? If I want to lose weight, will protein shakes make me gain weight? If I should take protein shakes, when and how often should I take them?
Please note: I don't care about getting muscles, I just want to be slim.

you cant lose weight if you keep feeding protien. it maintains your current body shape because you're feeding it all the nutrients it needs. if u want to lose weight then dont feed urself because then ur body will be forced to literally eat itself (the fat stored in your body for energy). if u feel extremely hungry then thats when your body is digging in to your stored fat but it stops as soon as u eat some food so dont over eat or that stored fat will always stay there.
ofcourse you're going to grab a bite to eat because hunger is a strong control mechanism so you have to eat but if you aren't depressed or mentally unfit looking for comfort food, then you can control that hunger and eat one thing once a day, an apple.
many years ago when tv was black and white, boxers who were much taller and heavier than their weight class, used to eat only one apple a day to satisfy their hunger and give their body all the nutrients it needs to be physically at their peek condition. so just grab a coffee and eat an apple and soon all that fat will be used up :-)
