I have a lump on my neck that the doctors are concerned about. It's been there for about 2 months. when i first went in they said that by white blood count was slightly elevated but so little that it was probably due to a slight virus. When I came back, since it didn't go away, the blood count was redone and it was normal. But they still decided to do an ultrasound on it and a needle biopsy. My question is, what is the likelihood that it is lymphoma if my white blood count is normal. I thought if you had cancer the white blood cells were elevated normally.

The lymphocytes involved in lymphoma are abnormal because they reproduce and divide rapidly instead of dying off naturally. These lymphocytes are white blood cells.
If it comes as any consolation, you are unlikely to have developed non-Hodgkins lymphoma. That is more common in men than women. Hodgkins lymphoma itself is a very rare disease.
I would just wait for the biopsy results to come back instead of stress myself out trying to figure out the different possibilities. You haven't talked about having any other lymphoma symptoms so I really wouldn't think you have it. Good Luck
