I would like to ask Michelle Obama and Jill Biden a question regarding school bullying. How would you respond if one of your children were being incessantly bullied at school, the child and parent had talked to authorities at school and the bullying continued? You could not just move to a new school district and the bully's parents were uncooperative. Your child is stressed and frightened to go to school.

I would go over the head of the principal. If your child is in special education or in 504, ask for a meeting to document and ask the director of special ed or the 504 coordinator to intervene. If they are a regular education student, I would go to the superintendant or school board. If the bullying involved direct threats, you could also go to the police. Additionally, you could file a complaint with the state education agency. If that did not work, I would threaten legal action -you could go to court. There are a lot of attorneys who specialize in education related cases. You could also go to the newspapers. The bottom line is that something needs to be done soon. This article gives a good example of the consequences of not giving support to children http://doban.hubpages.com/hub/Kids-Dealing-with-St... Right now, you have congress on your side. Federal legislation on bullying in public school has been proposed and is in review. That legislation would mandate that public school have bullying prevention programs in place. Some states, like Texas, already have state level legislation already in place.
I'd rather look at my 87-year old grandma's toe fungus infested feet than Michelle Obama's Face.
