Ok, so today I decided to purchase Minecraft so i could play online with some friends. Finished and was excited, I was playing single player just fine, then when it came to trying multiplayer, it is just stuck on the "Scanning for LAN worlds."
I am playing on a MacBook Pro, tried on Windows, but same thing. Tried playing on the browser, but it wont allow it or something. It just goes to a white screen after I allow it to run.
Please help if you know how. I would really love to play what I paid for.
Thanks in advance.

Ok LAN is Local Area Network and means if your friends are on your router they can join you .... but for a online server it wont auto detect you need to get the IP adress and and name and add a new server ... just look this up on youtube and for the IP your friends play on
Lan is where u play with people like in the same house or Next door house i think
It basically Scans on your modem, so needless to say you wont discover the human beings, in case you pick to play Lan with human beings exterior of your modem you will choose the LAn adress from them, so emh.. goodluck on griefing?
