okay, i just got a 16 gb ipod nano 4th gen, and it's my first ipod, i read that to turn it off i press and hold the play/pause button, when i do that, it turns off ( i think ), but when i try to turn it on it turns on instantly, no boot time no startup no nothing, so am i turning it off for real or not ??
also, after i turn it off, locking it won't turn it on right ?? i know these are basic questions but i really don't know anything about ipods
thanks so much.
Update:yeah but it doesn't need any time to start up at all ?? i think that's weird, i just press a button and it turns on, it makes me feel i didn't turn it off in the first place , r u sure it opens THAT fast ?!!

Yes, you are pretty much doing the right thing. Apple is very simple so if you think it's too easy, in most cases it is, but that's just the way an iPod is set up. To turn an iPod on or off you hold down the Play/Pause button. And no I don't think lock turns it back on.
Additional details:
Yeah, it doesn't really feel like it turns on and off but I promise, even though it seems weird, it really did turn on and off.
