Ive always wondered what people think of these two countries and their people, where would you rather visit etc. So do you prefer Australia and the Aussies or New Zealand and the Kiwis?
I like both of them very much, each for their own character, even though, to me, having come from Europe, they have more commonalities than differences, at least when it comes to daily life.
New Zealand is pleasantly green and mild, laid-back, and serene, a bit like what the UK would like to be, but apparently can't be anymore. It's also quite mild-mannered, cautious, and socially oriented. A good place to be for all walks of life.
Australia is more of a man's dream though, big, stark, masculine, funny as hell, bright colours, big skies, crazy critters, and large portions on the plate. It's a hoot, really, and the taxis have V8 engines. It's surprisingly reasonable to be based in, too.
I currently live in NZ, but I see myself spending the rest of my life living sometimes in Oz, sometimes in NZ, wherever the fancy takes me. Together, they make a perfect spa experience, an invigorating change between hot and cold, humorous and serious, optimistic and melancholic, risky and harmless. I can totally recommend them both, especially when taken together, at mealtime.
I have been to both countries this past week. They have an immense rivalry against each other and hate each other a lot. Kiwis call Aussies criminals (Because Australia used to be a huge prison for Great Britain's inmates) and Aussies call Kiwis Sheep Shaggers (Because of the ratio of sheep to people is like 40:1, and they make fun of them and say they have sex with the sheep there's so many). Since I was in both countries for about a week a piece I got to see a lot of the sites. New Zealand is gorgeous. Its a ton of farmland and fields but it gorgeous. When I went it was a little cold though because it's there winter. I also noticed the New Zealand citizens aren't the friendliest. But the high school kids are a lot like us and pretty cool to be around(I'm in high school). Australia is a really nice. Australia has a huge reputation for having the worlds most deadliest animals. Theres even a song about it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HmRexWQhs3M - Within 20 minutes of being there I saw the 1st or 2nd (Taipan or Brown Snake) most deadly snake in the world in a parking lot and almost bit one of us lol. I also saw Bandai beach. That was gorgeous and great for surfing. The actual city of Sydney is amazing and beautiful. Better than I ever expected. But one thing you would expect if the abundance of Asian people. ALL of the citizens are Asian. (I don't mean that in a bad way, it's just that you wouldn't expect it.) Outside of the city people don't have accents like they show in the movies. What they show in movies is usually Western Australia. Eastern Australia is more civilized and the accents aren't as heavy. But there still pretty awesome! I also visited high school in Australia. They too are exactly like us and just like to have a good time. Also, all of the girls there are hot! So overall out of the 2 countries you mentioned I would say I liked Australia the best.
Slapp Da Bass you've said alot of inaccurate things. It's Bondi Beach, not Bandai. I don't beleive you saw one of the worlds deadliest snakes in a carpark, as I've known people aged over 50 who've lived in Sydney or Melbourne their whole life and even if they went bushwalking, they all say they've never seen a snake!! I lived in Sydney for 3 years, never saw a snake or a large spider. It's not what people think.
Also the difference in accents between West & East Australia is no different. I know as I've been to both.
NZers & Aussies don't hate each other, it's a friendly rivalry thing & the jokes about prisoners & sheep shaggers are just jokes.
Yes there are quite a few Asians in Sydney & Auckland, NZ, although alot of them are just students there for a few years learning English, etc.
Both Australia & NZ are great, you need to go to both. They are similar in alot of ways but also very different, if that makes sense. The cultures are similar but Australians are more like Americans & NZers are more like the English. NZ has a moderate climate & Australia has summer temperatures with over 40 degrees celcius, including in the cities. Personally I hate it that hot, so hard to sleep at night, there's not even alot of air conditioning there. When choosing accomodation in summer, make sure you ask if there's air conditioning in the room. You'd expect there would be, but alot of places don't!!! NZ has unbelievably beautiful scenery, and very varied too (including volcanoes).

We dont hate the aussies, they are our neighbours and the other half of The ANZAC's
WE take the piss outa them at every possible opportunity as they do to us, Its a Trans Tasman Sport
Unless you are from our bit o paradise you cannot possibly understand the unique relationship between the Kiwis & Aussies
I'd prefer the Kiwis because I've been to Australia and going to New Zealand would be like a new experience for me.
Aussies have V8 taxi cars? Sweet i'm going to Aus!
Go Australia!
Even NZ is nice. I really wanna go to the mountains there.
