Leviticus 19:28-29 (King James Version)
King James Version (KJV)
28Ye shall not make any cuttings in your flesh for the dead, nor print any marks upon you: I am the LORD.
29Do not prostitute thy daughter, to cause her to be a whore; lest the land fall to whoredom, and the land become full of wickedness.
2 Thessalonians 2:10-12 (King James Version)
King James Version (KJV)
10And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved.
11And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie:
12That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.
My younger brother is studying to be a pastor at a Baptist college and he also works with the church youth group. He happens to have his lip pierced. A couple of the Jr Higher's parents complained a bit, but in the end everyone is pretty accepting.
Most people will take the opportunity to get to know you beyond appearances. If you want to pierce your nose, go ahead and express yourself! It's not the biggest mistake of your life because it's easy to remove.
In my younger days I had my eyebrow pierced, and not one Christian every said anything against it. I took it out as I got older and wanted to be more professional, and you can't even tell I've had it except for a tiny scar. Don't worry, piercings are anything but permanent.
A piercing isn't a big mistake. If you don't like it, you can always take the jewelry out and let the hole grow up. A lot of Christians have piercings.....I doubt seriously it will keep you out of Heaven. The only thing the Bible really says is that you aren't suppose to "deface God's temple".
The Bible says nothing against this. Anyone who claims their stance against piercings is based on Christianity is just spouting off legalism. As a new Christian, you should be aware of legalism. Legalism is a system of beliefs not neccessarily based on Biblical teachings but on the unspoken code that "Christians don't do that."
What hangs out of your nose has nothing to do with the content of your heart. Pierce away and if anyone looks at you poorly because of this, well then that is their problem and not yours.
God doesnt care about your body, he wants to live in your heart
the bible says your body is a temple of the holy spirit
defiling oneself would be in my opinion putting piercings and tatoos all over
in the days of slavery people used tatoos and piercings for the slaves not why would someone wanna do that to themselves
and secondly getting a piercing wouldnt be the bigest sin of your life doing sins that are abominable to God's eyes would be the biggest sin of your life
I advise you not to do it. You may cause a young person to stumble in their faith. Thinking it's OK if you did it, they may go out and get 50 piercings plus tatoos, which is not OK.
It's the same reason most born again Christians don't drink or smoke - not wanting to be a bad influence on others who may not be able to drink in moderation and wreck their lives. Romans 8:9-13
Please don't let people tell you that "God will love you just the way you are" and "it doesn't matter" because your body is not
your own. He made you in the twinkle of His eye and He has
a plan for you. He says through the whole bible old and new testament not to violate the body he has given you and although He does loves us, he also wants us to follow what
alot of churches call Holiness Standards and piercing, and
tatoos are not part of Gods plan.
As far as I know, there isn't anything in the bible that says you can't get piercings. Some christians would say that it is defiling the temple (your body), I don't agree with that. I like nose piercings when someone just wears a plain stud, but not when it's a hoop.
Pray about it sweetie cuz it really depends on how God guides you. It's something personal between you and God and really depends on your heart. Talk to God about it and He will guide you. Congrats on finding a church you can grow in! Living a life for God is awesome isn't it?? :) But anyway...lol. about the piercing, there are different doctrines at different churches but if you go to a church that is non-denominational like mine, it shouldn't be a problem but again, it really depends on what you feel in your heart the Lord is telling you to do. God bless!
Well some people agree that God made you as you are for a reason and that you should not alter your body in any way, but then again piercings have nothing to do in weather or not you believe in God or not. Use your own judgement and do what you feel is the right thing! Good Luck!!
