Wow, excluding metal and hair bands? I was going to say Mötley Crüe, but jeez, guess they're out of the picture. Billy Squier or Rush. Rush wasn't a hair band. If I had to choose between the two of them I think I'd pick Rush, though. If Aerosmith counted as an 80's band then I'd go with them, but they were formed in the 70's.
Queen, Rush, The Clash, & The Ramones. All 70's bands that were still sucsessful in the 80's (even though it took Queen longer than the rest to go back to awesomeness)
