Ok, so i bought this new mic, and I want to record my voice while songs are being played by Winamp or Windows media player or whatever.. The thing is that, i cant combine these 2 sounds to get recorded. I can only record my voice itself, or the songs alone. Please help! What should I do to record BOTH OF THE THEM at the SAME TIME? (windows XP)
THANX!

Yes Audacity can be used but there's a better way than answer one.
Note that the music tracks will need to be in wav, mp3, Ogg or aiff format. If not they will need to be converted or Audacity wont play them.
You'll need to specify recording in multi-track format.
Version 1.2 go to File menu, version 1.3 go to Edit menu / Preferences / Audio I/O tab and tick the "play other tracks while recording new one" box.
Open a backing track, click the record button and record your vocal on a new track. It's best to use headphones to monitor the backing track.
Try to record your vocal as loud as possible but without distortion to keep it "clean". The levels can be adjusted before saving as a final mix.

Audacity is surely the best free music maker and is great for making music.
I got it for free here : http://bitly.com/1v82ZZ9It's perfect even for beginners because the software is really intuitive ad easy to use but at the same time it has really advanced functions for more experienced users.
It's a program that I definitely reccomend!
