I have a few days off this week and am looking for something to do for a day. I want to get away from my everyday norm and enjoy some quiet time! I love the ocean, site seeing, museums, antique shops, book stores... I do not want to be driving all day- maybe two hours tops (starting place=Auburn)

The town is very quaint with lots of Victorian era buildings and Fort Worden State Park is only a couple of miles away. There is a lighthouse near Fort Worden that probably isn't open for tours in the winter, but is still very picturesque: http://www.squidoo.com/haunted-point-wilson-lighth...

You would absolutely love Victoria, BC - it's small, charming, easy to wander, and perfectly fits with everything you enjoy (you will need a passport or special Driver's Lisc.)!
From Anacortes (a 2 hour drive from Auburn) take the WA. State Ferry to Sydney. From there, if you didn't ferry your car, it's a short bus ride (#70) to downtown Victoria.
There is also a ferry (Blackball) from Anacortes that will put you right in the heart of Victoria.
Be sure to visit the Royal BC Museum
