He was a memebr of the Imperial Senate, but a member of the Alderranian royal family, making Leia a princess.

The senator who adopted Leia must have been a king on his home planet.

All these discussion about royalties, princesses and senators on a far distance planet? Come on!!!

I like Star Wars, I do! I was there at the cinema when episode 4 came on the big screen. I have seen all 6 episodes. I have watch them when they come on TV. I have them all on my DVD collection.

BUT.....They are still ONLY movies!!!! Go to the movies - enjoy them. You paid for the ticket for them to ENTERTAIN you. Don't let them become your stressor. We have more important things in life to worry about when we all get up the next morning and go to work to earn a living to pay for food, clothing and shelter.

So what if there was a mistake or two in the logic? Those mistakes will not make ANY difference to your life decisions you will have to make next week, next month or next year.

Because Padme was a senator on Naboo. The Organas were royalty or became on Alderan. Thats what I gathered at least.

Senator Organa's wife was the queen of Alderaan, so he must have been the king too, even though he was a senator.
