MY son is having a severe strep throat and you need medication
Home remedies is not enough to cure a severe strep throat
Go see your doctor and ask him / her to give you . Amoxicilin
Its a cheap antibiotic and it work wanders
Did you know if a strep throat is not treated ; it can affect your heart or your kidneys ?
And yes its true some need a breathing tube
IN the mean time ; gargle with salt warm water and repeat every hour
If you have to borrow money from a friend or relative do it
A strep throat is not a joke
If you do in fact have strep throat, you will have to find some way to go to the doctor. Once you start taking the medicine, you won't be contagious. (24 hours after taking the medicine)
If you leave strep throat untreated, it can cause heart and joint problems for the rest of your life.
That is your answer.
Yes it is contagious.
Don't kiss, share the same plate of food, drinks, eating utensils. Cover your mouth and nose with tissues when you sneeze or cough. Spray any and everything down with Lysol after you touch it.
Contrary to what you hear. Strep along with other infections like it will get better over time with or without antibiotics. They are still commonly given to children and the elderly because their immune systems are not as up to fighting this off as we are. And most of the time if you visit a doctor with an infection like this they will give it to you. Something to 'appease' their patient while their body fights it off. I've actually known some doctor's to pass out antibiotics for viral infections. Silly considering they don't do anything for it.
*For any throat swelling you can take an anti-inflammatory like Ibuprofen or Naproxen. This will also help with the nasal inflammation that hinders breathing correctly through your nose.
*For throat pain extra strength Tylenol, cough drops/lozenges,Chloraseptic throat spray etc
*For congestion take a decongestant like Sudafed PE
*For thick mucus take an expectorant
*For a constant cough you can take a cough suppressant,I just don't advise taking this without an expectorant though. You don't want that nasty excess mucus staying in your lungs.
Other than that. Rest, stay hydrated with clear fluids. Sprite, ginger ale, apple juice, chicken broth, and things like that. For a really sore throat I strongly recommend hot tea with honey. That's about all that's gotten me through my Bronchitis. Drinking something hot.
Don't worry to much about eating a lot. Just what you can. Chicken soup, cream of wheat and instant mashed potatoes prepared with water instead of milk, jello and whatever else you can eat that is soft and warm.
