I got teeth extracted before getting braces. Now in one of the extraction site, the gum is swollen. Is it because the teeth are moving there or something or is it infected?
OK..The extraction site will naturally swell beginning about a day after the extraction and will last about three to five day's depending on how much trauma was placed on the bone during the extraction...Then the swelling goes down that the extraction site begins the healing period which takes between five and six months. During the healing period the extraction site changes both size and shape...If the extraction was very recent you may have an infection, if the extraction was more than a month ago and braces were put in I would suspect your getting an irritation from tooth movement. See your dentist about it to make sure. Good luck and I wish you well.
