I am a 32 year old male currently in Iraq. I have a small painless lump under my left underarm. It is less than .1 cm in size and moves a very little if any (hard for me to tell). It is hard in appearance. I have noticed this 2 years ago and have watched it closely. It has not grown in size in 2 years, if it did very little and i can not tell. I went to a P. A. here and she told me i need to get screened for cancer, but they cant do it here. I decided to get a second opinion from a Dr. he looked at it,felt it, and said it feels attached to my skin and dont worry about it. Does this sound like anything to be worried about? I can push the issue and get it looked at in Germany. Or I could monitor it and if it grows then seek medical attention. Thanks for the answers.

u need to check with a doctor. u should not neglect.
There are a few reasons but the fact remains GET IT CHECKED!!! I know someone who had swollen Lymph Nodes in the armpit and had to get them drained since it actually was caused by a form of cancer *not to scare you*. You could just have an infection because of the flu but the best bet and safest is to go get it checked! Most likely you'll be fine.
From what I have been told, if its not progessing in size, and is within "normal" limits ( 1 cm would qualify), and you dont have other nodes swollen, its probably nothing serious.
The only thing I might question is the location of it. Typically lymph node swellins in areas outside the neck are of greater concer.
But agian, if its not growing and its 1 cm or so, its probably nothing serious. But if it makes you feel better then you should get it checked out.
According to my Dr, I have a permently swollen one in my neck, about the size of a pea.
By the way, I am farily sure you meant 1 cm, not .1 cm. .1 cm is hardly even noticable.
0.1 cm is very small. It could be a lipoma which is a collection of fat that is under the skin, or it could be a lymph node which would be concerning if it is painless. I would get it removed to be sure. It would be an easy surgery due to the location and size of the lump.
Anything in the body that normally isn't there and doesn't go away soon is something not to overlook or ignore. Waiting is taking a risk of it becoming worse if it's something and harder to treat or recover in later. Don't wait, the time you loose could be a risk to your own life.
I'd get that checked by a specialist. Go to Germany if you need to now.
I wouldn't wait and wonder and let this grow or make you ill too from it. You need to go to an oncologist as those as drs. that deal with cancer.
If you've had it for two years and nothing has changed it's unlikely to be cancer. Everyone has a few extra lumps and bumps, it's part of the human body...most people just don't know where theirs are! Monitor it, unless it changes in size, texture, you find more or you develop other symptoms, don't worry.
Hope this helps
