The Sims 3. I loved the Sims 2, especially when Open for Business was released (and I do miss that EP), but Sims 3 opened up worlds, and gave us horses, and a whole lot more. Customized colors and patterns for nearly everything, it is a designer and architect's dream. And then they went a step further and gave us the Architect profession!
The Sims 4 was a gigantic step backwards. I'm trying very hard to enjoy it, but I can only play it a couple hours at a time before I get bored. I play Sims 3 almost exclusively.
I've played since the original Sims, and I've played just about every PC version out there, including the various Sims Story games, Medieval Sims, Sims Online, and even Sims Social on Facebook. I also currently play the mobile Sims Freeplay.
Although I did enjoy the original, I think Sims 2 will always be my favourite. Not only did I find it the most addicting, it also seemed to have rather more content in the base game compared to the newer games in the series.
