Its not the font that is causing your problem. Times is a standard windows font. Use Avant-Garde. That will work fine or Arial.

Courier, or Courier New is a fixed-width font. Proportional spacing is only really a problem when working either with text based files, or maybe HTML. Your word processing software should take care of any alignment problems.
