Why did Nietzsche go insane?
I have heard everything from syphillus(if that's even possible) to a brain tumor or condition to an obsession.Is there any official answer?I think it was a brain condition...the same thing his father was said to die from...especially with all the headaches he had.I think there was some sort of deterioration in his brain.His later works sounded like the work of a madman on some parts.

It was syphillus - and yes it was entirely possible. In the old days, there were entire insane asylums filled with syphillus patients that had become insane. And the fact that he believed he had caught it from a woman also backs up the increasing anger towards women in his writing as he got closer to his death.
I agree with the general syphilys consensus. And some of his later work was "nonsensical" and didnt jibe at all with how he lived his life, as somewhat of a wuss.
obviously he had neurological deterioration, and I suspect, as do many in my field, that he had syphillis and it attacked his brain, in the late stages, syphillis does that you know.
