Is it possible that her version of Windows is pirated? The Genuine tool determines if it is a legitimate, purchased version of Windows. If it is pirated, it probably locked it down.
as i see it, the advantage of genuine advantage is out weighed by the disadvantage of actually paying for the software...
anyways that sounds strange, try change it by finding a pic and right clicking and choosing set as background. If that doesnt work you probably sucessfully downloaded a virus or some type spyware onto her computer via some type of fake update pop up from some crappy site.
If it seems you downloaded some type of rouge software, then Id suggest using a recently updated antivirus program to help you remove it. If yours is out of date or you dont have one, I suggest using "Avast!" is what I use, and its completely free.
Your operating system installed by pirated cd....if you don't want to buy then you can remove windows genuine advantage...and after it just turn off windows update
Open my computer ,click view and click on show extension files
start>run>system32
find wagdll and rename it wgadll.bak
now right click mouse and creat new text document and rename it wagdll
press ctrl+alt+esc and give end task to wgasystray.exe and within 5 sec delete wga.exe from system32 folder
its better if u minimize this folder earlier to delete quickly
now restart your pc
wga gone....

i strongly advise you format the hard drive and reinstall vista, or xp, or whatever you have. if i'm right and it is a worm, that's the only free way to get rid of it for sure.
good luck.
restore the system back a few days to when it was working, go to start programs accessories system tools and then system restore, if you have windows vista just go to start and type in system restore it will bring right up ,,, good luck
there's somewhat common option... in case you believed that the version of XP you acquire replaced into actual, then touch Microsoft. they are fairly effectual and could (with any luck) eliminate al the bounds on your workstation and be useful it.
