I reformatted my system and somehow the technician who did it installed a pirated version!! I downloaded a movie in wmv. format, but now i cant play it because it requires the newest version of windows media player. I am unable to update the player because my copy is not genuine!! Is there any way to play the file without updating my whole system????

There is a way yes that wont do u any bad or to the computer;
1. You have to try to install Windows Media Player 11 ( which u probably already did )
2. Copy and paste " C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Windows Genuine Advantage\ "
3. Double click the folder " Data " ( only thing there )
4. Delete the only file inside
5. Before you install, unplug ur internet ( this way the file doesnt recover it after you delete it )
6. Install it.
When u plug your internet wire back in, the file will recover itself and u wont be able access this folder again unless you decide for some reason to reinstall Windows Media Player 11.
Download VLC Media Player or download k-lite mega codec pack, this will give you the .wmv format for windows media player (Click the links)
No you do not need the newest of windows media player.
Install Gomplayer, go to preferences - others -- select all
File Types - Codec
Now you can play .wmv format movies

4. Delete the only file inside
