Hi, I am new to overclocking. I just installed a coolermaster hyper 212 evo cpu fan and I am using turbo V for overclocking. I am testing the results with Heaven DX11. I have one amd radeon 6990 and a 750 watt power supply with 4gb of 1333mhz of ram. Without overclocking I get 45fps on average, I tried overclocking it to 3.8 ghz and changed the CPU voltage to go higher, but I don't really know what I am doing, I expected that if it had more power to work with I would have better results but when I ran the tests on heaven I got like 15fps... Do I need to change the CPU frequency, CPU voltage? CPU/NB voltage? Dram voltage? Because all I did was increase the CPU voltage and ended up with awful results at 3.8ghz... please help! automatic 5 stars for best answer

This guide will tell you all you need to know about overclocking your 965. http://www.overclock.net/t/525113/phenom-ii-overcl...
It's strange that you got worst results with a higher clock speed. My guess would be that one or two of your cores were unstable and crashed. Heaven isn't the best for testing stability. A lot of overclockers including myself use prime 95. http://www.mersenne.org/freesoft/ It will really stress your CPU. Also, real men overclock in their BIOS, using software isn't always reliable.
See if your motherboard supports running AMD's Overdrive program. Overdrive will automatically overclock for you so that you don't have to mess with voltages and timings manually.
