How many 50g birds moving horizontally at 10m/s would have to fly at the windshield of a 10,000kg airplane traveling 125m/s horizontally in order to stop the plane momentarily? Assume birds stick to the windshield and ignore the thrust of the engines.

I would say use conservation of momentum.
mb*vb + mp*vp = 0
(x*0.05)*(10) + 10000*(-125) = 0
It equals zero since the plane has a final velocity of zero (as would the birds, I'd imagine!) "x" is the number of birds.
