hi i have a 1 year old male bearded dragon. And he hasnt shed since august. He is about 19 inches...... and he hasnt shed anywhere. but now only like 5 of his front scales on his nose are white. why isnt he shedding?
Raise his humidity like you normally would. It sounds as if the humidity is too low and he just cannot shed properly.
I'm not sure on the 'front scales on his nose are white' i mean that should be his dry old skin ready to come off.
Give him a bath in low luke warm water, not too hot, not too cold, you'll know when and it should help him. Keep giving him a bath a day or every two days until he sheds, and mist his cage in the morning, midday and the evening time to keep the humidity levels right up :)
If your still having trouble, take some pictures of him, join up on a forum, i'm on this one : www.herpireland.com theres LOADS of beardie keepers on there, they will help you out more :)
I mean it's December 20th he should have shed once since August.
As adults they don't shed as often as when they were babies, they shed their whole body about once per year but they do it in pieces and usually between spring and summer after they come out of brumation(semi-hibernation). Make you you bathe him(really just soak in warm water-no soap) 2-3 times per week and make sure it's diet is mainly salad and supplemented with insects that are dusted in calcium 2-3 times per week. Check out my care sheet at www.dalesbeardeddragons.com for other care info.
I hope you and your dragon have a wonderful holiday,
