My vet gave me some chlorhexidine gauze sponges to cleanse a hot spot on my dogs neck. Tonight my cat came walking (not limping) into the room & started licking his foot, which I noticed looked a bit dirty (he's a white cat). I took a quick look & noticed it was a bit bloody between the big pad & the toe pads, but there's no blood on the carpet where he was walking. Can I use the chlorhexidine gauze sponges to clean my cats foot until I can get him into the vet? It seems an oral-bacteria based antibiotic would be better than just plain old soap & water. And my dog, who is a freak about any treatment around his face, loves the wipes - I think they're soothing to him because he comes running when he sees me pick them up, instead of running away like he does with everything else.
Thanks!
