My cocker spaniel is 6-10 years old. Since he was a rescue dog, from a puppy mill, nobody ever knew his exact age. I've noticed that Blackies' eyes have been filling up with a gunky green discarge. I clean his eyes with warm water but, the next day, the same. Is this old age or an infection. I've made an appointment already.
Update:You don't 'buy' dogs from puppy mills. Blackie was rescued from the mill by the spca. The pups, that are bred there, are then sold to pets shops.

Could be an infection, especially if this is not normal for him. Cockers are definitely a breed very prone to eye discharge and other such issues for no reason. I'd have a vet look at him though just in case.
Cockers are prone to eye infections.
That's what this is. It is not normal. It can be corrected with eye drops from the vet. Good thing you've made an appt.
buying a dog from a puppy mill just encourages the mill to breed more dogs and it keeps them in business. If it happens in the morning, then it might just be "sleep" or "eye boogers" in his eyes. People gets this in their eyes when they sleep too.
i have a golden retriever cocker spaniel mix and he also gets those but i think its just the allergies!
This is a problem that needs to be seen by a veterinarian IMMEDIATELY. This dog needs medication. It is suffering.
He has an infection so it's good you are taking him to the vet.
