or only gender discrimination you disagree with?
I see many who think treating one gender differently isn't sexism and maybe not even gender discrimination when it's a practice they personally agree with. It seems to me that what one personally agrees with or disagrees with is irrelevant. Gender discrimination is sexist - some sexism may be widely accepted, some accepted by almost nobody, and some very controversial, but it's still all sexism. What do you think?
(Inspired by a question I thought was good that was just deleted)
Update:So Great Sweaty Handhols - it sounds like you are saying gender discrimination is not sexism if it makes sense to you, but is sexism if it does not make sense to you. So, in your view it isn't absolute or objective, but subjective to the feelings of each person. Is that right?

People often employ something called "good judgement" or "discretion." Words have connotations.
According to Wiki: Sexist attitudes are frequently based on beliefs in traditional stereotypes of gender roles. Sexism is not just a matter of individual attitudes, but is built into many societal institutions.[2]
So you could call not giving men a government voucher for a pap smear "sexist", but someone with good judgement wouldn't see it that way. That is an undeniable physical difference and does not contribute to a larger culture of harmful sexism. It *would* be sexism to not allow a man to care for kids or a woman to fly a helicopter. Or to assume women aren't as capable of making rational decisions and men aren't as capable of understanding other people.
Women is usually chosen over a man by gender alone when it comes to getting custody in a divorce, is this being gender biased and sexist? I truly view all gender discrimination as sexist! But, that is why feminism does not work at all! Even in the name, it tells you who's rights they are more for in protecting & obtaining even more rights than the male gender has! That is sexist! If they was more for equal rights between the genders then, they would be called Equalist ! Instead, it is a hate group that promotes gender discrimination and sexism against man!
So you were the one who starred my question? It probably offended someone so it was deleted.
I believe in sex discrimination where it is necessary and just to do so. For instance, I believe distinctions should be made on account of sex in the military and family. I don't understand why everyone is so freaked out by sexism. I don't believe in feminist practices such as affirmative action or anything but when it comes to the family I believe a woman should ask her husbands permission before taking out a loan, getting a credit card and he should decide where the family should live. But I also believe a man should be liable to support his wife and children.
I'm sure you don't agree because you believe in no-fault divorce (if there ever was really such a thing) but I believe the old ways work best and much research shows women were actually happier in their marriages when things were that way.
"And as she asks in the book: Where are all the men? Why don't they oppose the feminists? Why is F. Carolyn Graglia the only person attacking them? It is partly because the feminists have so successfully gelded American males, and partly because males, through a misplaced notion of chivalry, do not believe in attacking women. But when women cease to be women they must be dealt with. Deep down the real reason the feminists hate men, Graglia tells us, is because men do not love them enough to challenge them when they misbehave. That is a very unpopular thing to say, but Graglia has the moral fortitude to say it, and say it very well.'"
There is no doubt that culture plays a big part in what is considered sexist in society or societies.
Somethings however, that are NOW considered sexist epecially in western socities because of our liberal democarices are not explicitally sexist at all.
For example if you set a test to join a group and one group in society finds it hard to pass such a test is that sexist or fair?
Is changing the test for this group by making it easier to pass sexist or fair? and indeed which group is that sexist or fair too?
It seems to me the real question is not if something is sexist or fair but why if it is considered to be sexist against one group more than another then is that sexist or fair?
If you can follow that you are a better men than me, lol.
I see it all as sexist, but I don't see sexism as inherently wrong at all.
I don't think agism is wrong, either - you don't treat your kids the same as your elders, do you?
