My husband and I are currently stationed together in Germany (I'm Army and he's Marine) and we have a child on the way. The problem we're facing is that my husband is supposed to PCS just 4 months after our child is born which will leave me here alone with he/she for about a year until I ETS. Is there anything we can do to avoid that? His unit doesn't want to extend him here unless it's necessary, which it's not.

You will do what every married couple separated by the military does... suck it up and move on. What do you think dependent spouses do when our husbands deploy or get sent remote? We deal with it and carry on.
You will survive with a little one, you won't be the first, and you won't be the last. You just need to realize how lucky you were that you had this assignment together!
1. No separation pay - separation pay is when you are separated from your dependent. Military service personal, can NEVER be a dependent!!!! 2. The reason your not getting BAH, is because dual military service members stationed at separate bases, are considered single service members unless they have a child. Then the service member with physical custody of the child, receives BAH at the with dependents rate or can live in base housing. 3. To PCS as part of the married couples program ( you have to actually sign up for the program, it is NOT automatic ) , the service member must have 2.5 years time on station. And you must have at least one year time remaining in service, after the PCS. 4. Just being married, does not mean you automaticly get BAH, when both are in the military. Without children, you go under the same rules as every other single service member does
You will get counseled by your CO. to see if you are staying in, if not than get out and PCS with hubby. If you decided to stay in your basically SOL.
I was a single parent for 12 years in the military and three deployments, you will be OK.
Here is an option - use the provision in the maternity regulations to get out immediately and not wait for normal ETS! Then you can PCS with him!
they could care less. co location is never a guarantee and considering you are in different Branches nearly impossible anyway.
if his PRD is due then he PCSes.
they will not PCS you so close to ETS date either.
I don't see anything you can do to prevent it ! you must have known this was always a very good possibility from the first day you met !
