For recording stuff like A day to remember and so on; my own music, just the same genre. Only for studio use. Mainly rhythmic stuff, but might record some melodies too.
I have both, Gibson LPJ & USA Fender Strat. I play the LP most of the time because I also have a Epi Custom LP which I am used to. My Fender is a 1991 & have had it for about 10 years,,I have never been comfortable playing it mostely because my playing level isn't all that great. But who am I to say Clapton, Hendrix & SRV were wrong. If your really good, go with the strat,,if your about my level,,go with the LP.
While the Fender Stratocaster is a great guitar, it is only good for certain genres. The Gibson Les Paul is a more versatile guitar and will be better in the studio unless you know you need the Fender Stratocaster tone.
assuming you're not going to be working with very high quality recording equipment, I suggest you go with les paul cause shitty recording boards have a nasty habit of cutting the ranges of an instrument, so with the les paul which has good high mid and low range the cutoff is at least going to be even. the strat might end up sounding like an old radio.
I'd say les Paul, tends to have cleaner sounds and more varied sounds, but the fender I feel is an excellent choice too, however I don't think they have quite the same sound
I own a tele, strat, paul, strat is the most versital.Paul is very limited two pickup front or back, strat five position switch, the best clean sound you can get, the tele great rock sound, good for country..
