Hi I will be travelling to Venice in a couple of months from the uk and so I decided to buy a plug adapter from eBay as I will be needing to charge my phone and my camera while I am there. There seems to be two different types of adapter, a two pin ungrounded one and a 3 pin grounded one. I don't quite understand the difference between the two and don't know which I need (altho I'm presuming grounded).

Most camera and phone chargers are "double insulated", so are safe to use without an earth connection ("ground" is an expression more common in the US). Look for a symbol on them consisting of two squares, one inside the other - that indicates that they are double insulated. An easier way is to look at the prongs which fit into a UK socket. If the earth (the thickest one) is made of plastic without any metal visible, the item is double insulated.
Double insulated items do not need to be earthed, so a two-pin adapter will be OK for them. In mainland Europe, a two pin adapter will usually fit into a socket with holes for three pins, but some older sockets only have two holes. A three-pin adapter won't fit into those, because there's no hole to accommodate the third pin.
Are you speaking a pair of dccontinual distribution device? or an easy +/- 12V operated stereo? the respond differs very much. quite frequently ungrounded platforms are referred to as floating platforms, and might perform proper even even as correct to grounds or lifted grounds. Lifted grounds are after you have yet another reference and thank you to non 0 currents, voltage among the shopper-friendly of the stereo or such distinctive equipment isn't any longer ame as floor skill. Grounding is favored for protection..yet with voltages less than 30V, the ask your self danger is little.
