Don't really know what you're trying to ask, so I'll just provide you with my favorite way to prepare a ham and cheese sandwich.
I start out with wheat bread and butter both sides, I add smoked and sweet ham, along with swiss cheese and tomato. I fry it until the cheese melts and the ham ends turn brown. Sometimes I will dip in in ketchup.
Thank you, would you mind trying something I just saw on Paula Dean? Dip the bread each side in switched eggs and saute the sandwich just like French toast but with ham & cheese in the centre. Looked very appetizing.
OK, so ham and cheese in a regular or toasted sandwich, yes, with a little mustard for me. Try this: next time you have tomato soup, make your toasted ham and cheese sandwich and cut it into quarters and float them on the soup like big croutons. Soooo good.

Also, I like both ham and cheese in omelettes.
I'm not a ham fan.
A good sprinkle of sweet paprika on that tasty grilled cheese sandwich will make all the difference though!
