Nobody understands abortion until you are in the situation that you feel it is your only way out. I don't know a single person who thought when they were little, "I want to grow up and get an abortion." I had my son when I was 15 and abortion never crossed my mind. I became pregnant again when I was 19 and it was my only way out. Putting a child up for adoption is harder than abortion, in my opinion. I won't get into all the details of what happens but it's not something you make a goal to do in life, it happens and you move on.

But for your question yes the fetus can feel it. It is the thalamus that is needed to feel pain and the fetus has a fully functioning one by 8 weeks. Also the baby moving isn't from that cushion or whatever lisa called it. It's from reflexes and the babies way of exploring the womb.

Well to answer your "just give it away" question... personally, I would never be able to be pregnant and carry a child for 9 months and then just "give it away." I also think it's cruel to bring a child into the world without having the means to care for it. If i'm going to have a child, I'm going to give it EVERYTHING it deserves in life, and it does not deserve a mom who can barely afford rent, let alone the thousands of dollars it takes to care for a kid. I can't say EXACTLY what I would do in that situation, because I've never been in it, but I'm pretty sure I would get an abortion.

Since you don't want to google it, I'll explain the 2 basic ways to get an abortion in the couple months of being pregnant. The first is the abortion pill, which you can take at up to 9 weeks of pregnancy. You take one pill at the doctor's office, and then you go home and take another pill 12 hours later. It basically causes your body to miscarry. There's usually some bleeding and cramps, but that's about it. The OTHER method for an abortion can be used up to 16 weeks into pregnancy. It is basically performed by sticking a very small vacuum into your uterus, and sucking out the lining of the uterus and the fetus.

As to the question of the baby feeling it.... this is a toughie, and is something you should research on your own before making a decision on. In early pregnancies, the embryo can't FEEL anything, because it doesn't have anything to feel WITH. It will be in the early stages of developing a heart, brain, and other organs, but the organs don't really work yet.

Basically, research pregnancy and embryonic/fetal development, and decide for yourself when you think life begins. If you think life begins at the moment the sperm meets the egg, then I understand why you would want to be against abortion. However, don't make that decision until you actually research and THINK about it.

It depends. If it's the pill then no the fetus won't feel it. If they are doing a surgical abortion then yes the fetus will feel it. There has been a video showing a fetus trying to get away from the instruments. They pretty much chop up the baby and pull it out in pieces. It's very cruel.

Educate yourselves before you say something stupid and selfish.

It is not a baby, it is a foetus. They feel nothing whatsoever. I am personally all for abortion. There are too many children in care. I know they shouldn't have got pregnant in the first place, but the pain of childbirth is so huge that it would be way better than carrying the whole pregnancy out till the end.

I don't know how they do it, I just know that it is very humane, the baby is not yet a baby, the FOETUS can't feel it and there are too many people in the world, especially too many children in care.

I really hope this changes your views, it is also something I feel incredibly strongly about, just the opposite side to you.

Reading through other people's answers, they are all wrong. The movement of the foetus in the womb is merely the liquid cushioning making the foetus appear to move away from the knife. It is completely humane and safe. Infact, a huge proportion of "babies" actually die before living, in other words through miscarriage or a still birth, NOT through abortion.

Even tiny foetuses try to get away from implements that are put into the womb.

Disgusting practice, should be banned if the woman is capable of carrying and delivering the child and the child is healthy to the point where it can enjoy its life.

Abortions (in the U.S. at least) can only be done during the beginning of the pregnancy. The baby that's being aborted isn't really a baby at that point...it's just a fertilized egg. It's so small you wouldn't be able to easily see it. It's not like a 9 month pregnant lady is getting an abortion and now there's this life sized baby being killed.

Abortion is the 'modern' way of killing(murder) an innocent soul. A soul that can be liken to you and me. I wish one day it will be treated with capital punishment. Death by hanging to be precise. If you don't want it then learn to keep your legs close.

The baby is no more than a cluster of cells at the time of a first term abortion, about the size of a lentil. There is no mentality, no sensory ability, no feelings at all. It is not a baby yet, but more like a small pimple. Think of it like a pimple stuck to the inside of the uterus. The doctor simply goes up inside with a small tool used to scrape the inside of the uterus. It looks like a dental tool. It takes literally seconds to scrape the cluster of cells free and then wash out the uterus. Done. The woman is anesthetized briefly, but there is no pain after wards and very little bleeding. Feel free to google it, there won't be any shocking pictures. It's a very clean, simple, brief, safe surgical procedure.

I don't think of it as any worse than taking antibiotics to kill bacteria. If it is an unwelcome life form inside your body, you have the right to kill it. Nobody can force a woman to endure a pregnancy, labor and delivery against her will, only to give the kid up to strangers. Most women will ultimately keep the baby, even though adoption was the plan. Most mothers renig on that out of the emotional pressures of family. Then the kid grows up resented, unwanted, possibly abused, neglected, and psychologically messed up beyond repair. Wouldn't it have been easier to just scrape out that little tiny cluster of cells and move on?
