Jesus specifically says to obey ALL the old testament laws (Matthew 5:18-19, Luke 16:17, Matthew 5:17, 2 Timothy 3:16, 2 Peter 20-21, John7:19, John 1:17,John 10:35 and more)...

Hell Jesus criticizes his followers for not obeying OT laws and not stoning their children to death! (Mark 7:9-13 and again in Matthew 15:4-7).

The things you state that the bible teaches you are not exclusive to the bible. These "morals" can be considere universal. Most religions, societies, ethnicities, etc accept these things. So, by living under those morals does not mean one is doing it because it is written in the bible. They are doing it because it is the right thing to do.

Atheist have a problem with the concept of any god. Atheist do not believe they exist. But, morals and religion are not dependant on one another. There are very moral non-religious people, as there are immoral people who are religious.

What you are dealing with here are not universal morals. I for one, think there is nothing wrong with two consenting adults engaging in sexual intercourse if the want to. They are adults, it is their life, they may do as they wish. It really isn't anyone else's business. Obviously, christians, on principle(maybe not in practice) disagree with my statement. But, I know atheists who do not engage in sex outside of marriage as a choice. I know plenty of christians guilty of fornications, as you put it.

It isn't because the Bible is a man-made book that we do not honor the commandments in it; it's because some (not all) of the commandments are not rational. They're clearly based on superstitious and outmoded ideas that might have been useful for unifying a people in ancient times but make lousy universal laws for human behavior.

Religious people honor the commandments because they believe them to be "the Word of God," not because they are good laws. Atheists don't look at the Bible as rules given to us from on high. They're just ancient literature. Some of it makes sense; some doesn't. As for the U.S. Constitution, we don't honor it because it is old but because it is rational and works. Even the founders knew that times and cultural mores change; that's why they made it possible to amend the constitution.

Morality has nothing to do with religion, morality has been around long before your religion and many religions that preceded it.

Religion comes from the social values, ties, and traditions we all develop throughout our lives.

Atheists don't need a book to tell them how to act. If your morality comes solely from fear of punishment or hope of reward, then sir, I truly feel sorry for you.

The Bible, even if you discount he horrid Old Testament documents, still has many areas that promote nothing more than hate and bigotry towards all other people, and people following the Bible have used this as an excuse to take countless lives throughout history.

Just because some laws (thou shalt not kill) are written in the bible doesn't mean that Atheists choose not to follow them. There are allot of good things written in the bible, just like there are allot of good things written by Plato and Kofka. Atheists have the ability to form a moral code without the impeding judgment of God looming over their heads. It is something they choose to do for the betterment of society. Christians choose to live by Gods law so they can get to heaven or avoid hell. The outcome is the same.

However Atheists also know that religion tends to lead to radicalism and suffering if left unchecked. This is seen consistently throughout history, and is occurring today in the middle east. The things Atheists don't like about the bible are the way certain verses are interpreted, and used to stifle freedom.

You asked us not to mention Mosaic laws so lets look at 1Timothy 2:9-15:

11 A woman should learn in quietness and full submission. 12 I do not permit a woman to teach or to have authority over a man; she must be silent. 13 For Adam was formed first, then Eve. 14 And Adam was not the one deceived; it was the woman who was deceived and became a sinner. 15 But women will be saved through childbearing—if they continue in faith, love and holiness with propriety.

This is a New Testament Doctrine that is very clear about the way women should dress, that they should remain quiet, and that they are responsible for this mess we are in. The only way a woman can saved is through bearing children.

This is your law, from the New Testament, I think it is very demeaning to women and don't agree, and it is one of the many reasons I don't follow your book.

You are incorrect in believing people choose not to follow the Bible because they don't want to follow the rules.

People choose to be good people without the Bible because they do not believe there is a God to have written this Bible. It is not that we don't follow most of the same rules, but that we don't follow the idea that the Bible was written by a supreme being.

As for the Constitution, we elected representatives to form those rules on our behalf. We agreed to these laws. It is called a social contract.

You have misunderstood the Atheist (agnostic in my case) point of view.

They will not follow the laws as DEVINE because there was human involvement in writing and choosing the books of the Bible.

There are laws that are universal, thou shalt not kill, or even covet. Those are good rules to follow. But worshipping God or tithing. Can't independently arrive at that point unless you use a Bible that Atheists believe is fallible because of human involvement.
