Last year, one of my ex's and i had a fall out and stopped being friends. I have spoken to him a little bit at the beginning of this year. When ever I had dated him, I was like his councilor. Now he's trying to get his GED and I am in full support of him doing this. is it okay if I send him a message saying:
"$0.01
Sending you the shiny, heads up, lucky penny I found today. I hope you get your GED!
And no, its not because I want you out of school, that'd be mean."

It all depends on what terms ya'll are on. Are you cool with each other and are just friends? Or would it hurt him or disrupt his current relationship (if there is one) if you texted him?
It's probably best to just leave him alone and only contact him in emergencies. It sounds like you two have gone your separate ways and don't keep in touch. If he told you he was getting his GED then he wanted you to know and you could tell him good luck. Otherwise he didn't want you to know or just didn't feel like he needed to tell you and you would be out of place contacting him about it.
absolutely.
