I am stagged by this report. Does anyone no any of the details.
A man in his 20's gets stuck down a drain, Fire fighters and Police divers spend 3 hours trying to rescue him after which time the water rises above his head and he drowns.
What the F**K? This is 2007 and they had 3 hours and they could not rescue him from a city drain. Could they not of provided him with an Oxygen tank or at very least fed Oxygen down a tube to give themselves more time? This is nuts.
Update:Emergency services in the city of Hull, worked for over three hours to try to rescue the man, believed to be in his 20s, after he became trapped while apparently trying to clean the drain.
But the water gradually rose to his neck and firefighters were unable to free his foot, said Humberside Fire and Rescue Service.
"The guy had been out just helping granddad to clear the drains... and unfortunately he slipped and got trapped down there and his foot got caught in some metal grating," said spokesman Glenn Ramsden.
"It's been an absolutely desperate operation to save this man but at the end of the day we couldn't do it."

Apparently they did give him oxygen but he lost consciousness. I said to my hubby that if I had been him I would've got them to chop off my leg. At least then he would still have been alive. This is a horrible story and the more I think about it the more distresssing it becomes. Very sad indeed.
Yes this is true and very very sad that no one could save him , Im 100% sure that the fire department tryed everything they could , it all happen so so quick !
Its a sad lose , but we all must remember these things happen everyday and life is like this , I sometimes wonder why , But we have to carry on and take each day as it comes
he was apparently helping his grandad unblock a drain and got his foot stuck. i followed the story on the news and about an hour b4 he died the report was that he in water up to his neck. as fast as the fire dept pumped water out it was filling up again. but it was his foot stuck not his head so i also don't see why he had to die in such a way. i totally agree with you.
Very sad news.
Surely they should have been able to give him an oxygen mask or even a pipe to breath through.
Erm, hello - police DIVERS??? Did they not have some scuba gear between them to stick on the poor man's face?
That's a truly incredibly story.
It's an awful way to die. Apparently, he was submerged in raw sewage and the fast flowing water made it impossible to reach him. My prayers are with his family and my heart is with the rescuers who fought to save him. I can't imagine how frightened he was or how helpless they must have felt.
It happened in Hull
