No. You do not. Spybot and Ad-Aware is a better products. It even found VIRUSES that AVAST! and Nortan ( surprises there XD ) and its a spyware product.
Also, the scan takes generaly longer with the MS product. Bill Gates is trying to be helpful, to be honest MS Defecneder is software to somewhat assist people who cannot spell 'computer'. You dont need it! =]

You have too many irons on the fire as it stands.
Spybot / Ad-Aware / AVG / Sygate!!!
These programs vie for control of your computer they argue with each other so to speak. It's like having 4 building contractors on the one job you will end up a folly. Windows Defender alone is better than all that trash. Get one to do all I would advise you to dump the lot. Employ Avast it's free and way better than AVG at everything.
Employ Windows Defender to do the odd scan a thing it dose very well and they get on well together. Defender is Microsoft I think that is a good enough recommendation for it. Avast just dose the job with little trouble and will update every day.
Overkill I think they call it.

PS The answer to your question is no.
1) Yes, keep Defender. It's the best defense, and since it's an MS product, it's also the one that will have the easiest time of all working with Windows. But the others shouldn't have any trouble, either.
2) SpyBot S&D won't do any harm if you keep it around, but you have enough anti-malware protection that you're plenty well covered even without SpyBot. My assessment is that you can delete it if you want to.
Take it your OS is Vista. Is it risk-free to run Spybot seek and smash with Microsoft abode windows Defender? Redundant? particular, even if you will possibly want to coach off UAC for Spybot seek and smash genuine time protection to paintings. temporarily Immunization function does not paintings on Vista till UAC is grew to become off. Edit: your utilizing XP - why have you ever offered abode windows Defender ? i might use Spybot S&D as my first line of defence against spyware & decrease back it up with unfastened malwarebytes & unfastened superantispyware, no choose for abode windows Defender.
No, you do not need it as well. I have to say it doesn't hurt to have more than one anti-spyware. I run 3 (Adaware, Spybot, AVG Anti-Spyware) myself plus AVG Anti Virus and AVG Anti-Rootkit.
look at it this way.. they are free. =)
none run in real time, so don't clog up ya resources..
as for sygate..
i'm one for zone alarm + a hardware firewall / modem router..
that will speed up the pc no end as it's filtering out a lot of rubbish before it even reaches your pc.
This is what I would do If I had both installed..I would delete one and fnd out if it's doing it's job. If not..delete it and install the other....One of them must work.
NO you don't.
do your self a favour and stick to spybot
