Have you how Liberals call the Tea Parties stupid, a waste of time and effort. They also keep saying there is a lack of focus and no real message associated with these rallies. Yet on the other hand the Million Man March was just the opposite and it was touted as a wonderful way of drawing attention to an issue and focusing our attention on potential solutions. Doesn't this seem like a duel standard to you?

Yes, it is. I remember the pre-million man march television coverage well. Every network covered it for weeks ahead of time and constantly had black leaders on to talk about it. This time, the bare mention of the tea parties was found on only two network news programs...and that was very limited. CNN made a mockery of the whole thing by having a very nasty and disrespectful reporter interviewing a guy and his young child. The only network that really gave these people a voice at all was FoxNews. And yes, I know they are a government hating conservative network....but at least they were willing to give these people a voice.
I helped in my own small way to organize this protest because I was tired of seeing our government (not democrats or rupublicans specifically) walking all over the American people. During the bailouts, the calls coming into the white house and congress were 100 to 1 against them...but they didn't listen. When the big (old Bush, new Obama) thousand page stimulus bill came out, not a single congressman or senator read it. They admitted it....and yet they still didn't listen to those of us who do not want our children and grandchildren mortgaged for life. Now the Presidents budget is in the works and once again we have voiced our opposition to this outrageous spending spree...and they have not listened.
The fact that the networks didn't think we are important enough to listen to is the same attitude that Washington insiders have towards the American people. They will do what they want to do and the heck with the rest of us. This may have been a small protest in compared to the million man march, but its importance is even greater...because we are not just talking about one facet of our population. We are talking about trying to save ALL of America from disaster. The protests are not over. They are just beginning...and will come to a head in 2010 at election time. You can bet that a lot of new people will be heading to washington.
The Million Man March was a little different because people from all over the country went to DC. I think the Tea Party movement will get there, but there was a different dynamic to today's protests. Still, I think the media have tried to ignore the Tea Parties, and are now caught unprepared. There were hundreds of thousands of protestors at events all over the country, and they will likely become more active in the political process at state and local as well as national levels. The media will eventually have to cover the movement.
certainly it is a dual standard, does that surprise anyone? the million man march was closer to 1/2 a million which truthfully is neither here nor there. it was important in american history. the protests yesterday to me anyway did have a focus and message. people are tired of the bailouts and wasteful govt. spending in the name of stimulus. mostly, they're tired of not being heard.
I don't recall making statements about the Million Man March. Since that had nothing to do with politics really, I don't think it is relevant to the politics section.
The Million Man March wasn't covered round the clock by any news network, nor did any news network make their own ad campaigns for the event.
Nope, Million Man March served a great purpose and was actually meaningful in a chapter of this nation's history.
Maybe it has to do with people that work taking off today and the million man march well what can I say.

I couldn't agree with you more. You and I know it's all about the "spin".
Do you want to cite a source that said it was a wonderful, or are you just talking out of you ***, again?
