The last I heard he was running a bowling alley in New Jersey. I'm serious. . . this is not an attempt at humor. He was interviewed on a Philadelphia radio station a few years ago. He talked about his life after baseball, and how he still loved the game.
What I do find funny is the commercial for MLB '06:The Show. It's a PS2 game, and they depict a wild pitcher that throws very hard. After his career ends because he can't control his pitches they show him bowling. I think it's a blatant reference to Williams.
Interesting aside, Mitch never really threw the ball very fast. For some reason his spreed and wildness became legendary, but it has been highly exaggerated.
