Why is this even an issue? This is war. That stupid *** hagi knows the kind of business he is into. He is lucky in my opinion to be treated as well as he is. Why are these stupid liberals making a deal out of this anyways? If it had been one of ours captured, he probably would have had his head sawed off, videoed and sent back to us. After reading the book "Lone Survivor", I know what is happening, and it makes me want to throw up. Its not like they are roughing up some innocent civilian or something, even if this was the case, it is part of war. Sometimes the wrong people get hurt or killed. Either way, this terrorist scum really deserves worse. He knows if he makes a big deal about this, the America-hating Liberals of this country will turn their backs on the heroes of our Nation in the snap of a finger and ruin the lives of these 3 Navy SEALs. This whole situation is sickening.

First of all, it seems that no one really has any idea what is going on. I am active duty military, neither a Liberal or a Conservative but I feel like I should set a few things straight...
First off, all of these charges did not arise from "America-hating Liberals". These charges were brought upon them as kind of a default charge. When these SEALS were accused of this crime, they were initially given a 'non-judicial' punishment or what the military call an Article 15 (a slap on the wrist in comparison to what is happening now as you face no criminal charges, reduction in rank, pay decrease etc.). Many military members feel that this Article 15 is a 'career ending' charge (many have recovered after receiving one but it is difficult) - and when any military member refuses to accept this type of punishment, the only other choice for the military's command is to push ahead with a court marshal (it is a gamble the military member takes when he refuses an Article 15)
So it is not like the Liberals took to the streets screaming and demanding justice for the terrorist - it was the default option and the gamble these soldiers took by refusing to accept the Article 15 - many believe they received bad advice from JAG (a military members legal team).
While I think the whole thing is ridiculous, I just think that everyone needs to get their facts straight before talking about what they don't know. Without all the information, they propagate ignorance and a smear campaign against Liberals by Conservatives and vise versa. Believe me, I don't like Liberals any more than anyone else - but these are the facts...

While I'm not sure what I am wrong about...I have to say that an Article 15 is not permanent and can be dropped by a commander or other overseeing authority. Regardless, even in the future on applications and whatnot, you are only asked about Article 15 in the past XXX amount of years in most cases.
One thing I did leave out was the fact that the court marshal is not 100% guaranteed if you refuse the Article 15. The whole matter can be dropped if the prosecution doesn't think it has a case and you call their bluff. I guess the most ridiculous thing is that someone pushed for the judicial punishment instead of simply dropping the matter - either way its complete bulls**t.
In my opinion, the reason the SEALS are being courtmartialed is the same reason that we can no longer win a war. We go by one set of rules, everyone else goes by another set.
I vividly remember a full bird colonel (who was a Wing Commander) being arrested AFTER he landed back in Thailand coming back from a mission over N. Vietnam. The Air Force was NOT able to bomb a SAM site in Laos as long as it was under construction. The fighters had to cross Laotian air space to get to Hanoi.
The pilots of the fighter wing had to wait until the site was up and running; only then could they bomb the site.
The Wing Commander (after losing several aircraft to those SAMs in Laos) basically said "to he** with this, we are NOT going to wait until those sites are completed".
The next flight over, the fighters bombed some sites under construction. A flight of Air Police was waiting at the airbase in Thailand for the colonel when he landed. He was arrested and courtmartailed
I have heard (but I am not 100% certain about this) that Claymore mines are no longer allowed to be used in Iraq and Afghanistan. Hmmmm.....maybe they can be rigged up to explode with nothing more than "hugs and kisses".

Have you ever seen on the History channel in regards to (I think battle of Okinawa, though it could be battle of Iwo Jima) marines going around shooting wounded Japanese soldiers? It seems as if the Japs had a very rude habit of laying on a grenade, with the pin pulled. If an American corpsman would try to roll the man over for whatever reason, the grenade went off.
Well, the article stated that some people thought that if those marines were still alive, they should be prosecuted as war criminals.
A few years ago a very successful stockbroker in NY resigned his job, and went on active duty as a Marine Captain. He was courtmartialed for shooting a wounded man who appeared to be going for a rifle. This was all caught on video. Thank the good Lord that he was acquitted.
What do you think it does to our troops to have to wonder about the possibility of being courtmartialed if they do the wrong thing in battle?

Hooah. There is no reason they should be convicted of ANYTHING! This is war. That haji is lucky not to have a bullet in his head! People who have not seen war have no right to support this court Marshall either.
If they are convicted and punished, get ready for a whole lot more court marshalls, because we, as members of the military, will NOT stand for this! These SEALs were doing their job, and as well as they fight, they are still human, which means they have emotions such as anger.
